Although, well, maybe I could’ve been more liberal with using certain weapons cause I heard the ammo drops adapt to what you’re using or what you don’t have a lot of… Anyway, as I was saying: The incredible sound design. I couldn’t just heal willy-nilly or waste ammo otherwise I’d be worse off later. I played on medium and I loved how powerful I felt while also still absolutely needing to be careful with my resources. That’s another thing I love about the game: It feels like the perfect balance for survival horror, or at least for how I like mine. Just last night I was going down this hallway and I start hearing a Necromorph even though there weren’t any open spaces for it to come from, but that prepared me, so sure enough, it pops out of one of the vents I couldn’t see and I was totally ready. It’s just incredible how immersive it feels to play like that, hearing every little thing going around in the Ishimura, the weird constant whispering that I assume is Isaac hallucinating shit, and every enemy coming your way! Like, it’s so genuinely helpful being able to hear the general direction of where the Necromorphs are. ![]() Playing this game with headphones is a must. So many great things about this game, from the story and lore to the kick-ass survival horror gameplay, and the absolutely excellent sound design. I love the Resident Evil games and how campy and silly they can be, but… man, this is just pure horror and I love that so much. I still need to sit on it a bit but I think this may be my favorite survival horror game now. ![]() I get it now why the original was praised so highly. Finally finished this last night and I’m absolutely floored at how good this game is.
